Doll FAQ
1. What kind of dolls are those? They're balljoint dolls or bjds for the many of us who are too lazy to type all that out all the time. They originated in Japan but all of mine are from Korea.
2. Did you make them?Nope, I would totally fail if I even tried.
3. Are those girls?None of them are. Yes some of them look like girls, but they're boys... yes they have a penis. No you can't see it.
4. Where did you get them? These are just some of the websites. If you want to know where I got a certain doll, please see my shoutboard

[link]5. How much do they cost?Micro was the cheapest at about $250. I'd say about $300 to anywhere up to $1000 is what you could spend on just a doll itself.
6. Why are they so expensive?Because they are. Honestly, does it matter why they're so expensive? If you don't want to pay for one don't buy one, or make one yourself. People do it. If you really want one and you have a source of income you'll be willing to sacrifice your wants (going to movies, going out to eat, buying new earrings, etc.) in order to get it. If you're not willing to sacrifice then you don't really want it bad enough, simple as that.
7. Did you do paint them yourself?Nope.
Li Xue on Den of Angels did Malakai's and
KittyMaru on DoA did Jordi's new faceup,
timchener on DoA did his original faceup. Omega's scars and faceup were done by =
Nezumi-chuu, and Jordan's was done by
True Crimson on DoA.
8. Where do you buy your clothes for them?I make a lot of their clothes, but I also get them from Den of Angels and ebay.
9. Do you have to put them together yourself?Nope. I believe Volks sells unfinished kits you put together yourself and I'm sure other companies do too but all of mine have come pre-assembled.
10. Are the fangs part of the face ups or the molds?Jordan's are part of the mold. There are a lot of molds that come with fangs, and I have seen some people modify or paint their doll to have some.
11. You can open their eyes?Yes! All it takes is a dremmel (or exacto knife) and a lot of patience. I opened Omega's eye myself, as well as worked on his other mods with an exacto knife.
13. How tall are they? The height varies. Jordi and Malakai are 60cm. Omega is 45cm. Popo was 11cm.
14. Do eyelashes come on the dolls or do you get them seperately? It varies by company, but some companies give eyelashes with the default faceup. Luts does, and I think Fairyland does as well. Really if you want specifics you'll have to ask the individual company. Most have Q&A boards where you can do that.
15. How long does a faceup last? That depends on how good it is. It all depends on how much you play with the doll, how you play with the doll, how well the faceup is done initially and what was used to seal it. Which brings me too...
16. What's the deal with the hatred of Testors? Some artists use Testors and love it. Personally if I know a faceup artist uses Testors I stay away. Testors attracts dirt like crazy, and can make a beauty white doll look grey and gross in no time. It's also a bitch to get rid of so I just chose to stay away from it.
17. How fragile are the dolls?Well they aren't made of glass but they aren't made of iron either. They aren't extremely breakable, if one accidentally falls there's a good bet you'll be okay. But that's not always the case. Jordi fell off a table and his ear chipped as well as a chunk off the back of his neck. Fingers also can break easily since they're thinner. So be careful with the doll, don't treat it like some $10 baby doll, but you don't have to treat it like porcelin either.
18. What is the difference between normal skin and white skin?Normal skin is more of a peachy or pinky tone (depending on the company) and white skin is... well... white. Jordi is normal skin, Malakai is white skin. Personally I love both. White skin does have it's difficulties when it comes to photographing them, but it's not impossible.
19. How do you keep the wigs on and eyes in?If the wig is a fiber wig (the kind that looks like actual hair) odds are it's got an elastic wig cap and that is how it's staying on. Sometimes if the wig is a little too big you can take a rubber bracelet (like the yellow Livestrong ones) and put it on the doll's head so it doesn't slip around. If the wig is a fur wig it's held on by little bits of sticky velcro. I stick the velcro directly to the doll's headcap, and I never had an issue using it when Jordi had it, and it's never been an issue now with Jordan.
Eyes are kept in with sticky goo. Some people use poster tack, some people use kneadable art erasers, some people use sculpy, basically if it's sticky you can use it. Be warned though! Sculpy can screw up eyes. It causes cracks in Dollmore acrylics for some reason and it has been known to actually melt eyes as well. I'm working on switching over to poster tack right now.
20. How do you pose your dolls?A lot of hard work. Seriously, that's it. Um, as far as making your doll pose/stand better, I suggest sueding and wiring. Don't worry, I'll give a brief rundown of what that is.
Sueding means putting something (usually suede) into the joints so that they don't slip against each other and poses hold better. Hot glue sueding is my weapon of choice since it's really simple. Look on the forum Den of Angels for a tutorial, that's where I found mine.
Wiring means putting bits of wire in the doll's joints so that it helps hold poses better. There are several different types of wire you can use but what *
onnawufei uses is aluminum soldering wire. You can buy a little roll it of cheap at Home Depot or Lowes. This is the best way to make a Bobobie body not pose like ass.
21. Do you know where I can get a cheap doll?Okay first off, don't be surprised if this question isn't the most well received. A lot of doll owners (me included) really hate it. These dolls are not cheap. You can't just go pick one up at Walmart. If you're at the point where you have to find a cheap doll just to get one, this may not be the hobby for you because it's expensive. Clothes, eyes, wigs, faceups, general maitenance, these things aren't cheap. But that being said, there are places where you can get cheaper dolls. Bobobie, AoD, Fantasy Doll and B&G all offer cheaper dolls. Do keep in mind that you get what you pay for. This doesn't mean you're going to get a piece of crap, but don't buy a Bobobie and expect to get the same quality you'd get if you bought a $550 CP doll from Luts. Just expect it to not be as pretty basically.
My advice to you is
do not settle for a doll because it is cheap. If you do this I can almost promise you you'll sell it later. If a cheap doll really appeals to you then don't feel bad getting it, there's no reason to. But don't get a doll only because it's cheap. It's better to save for what you want.
Character FAQJordi - CP Juri06 boy1. Is Jordi okay with Yan having another boyfriend? For the most part yes. Yan was with Rye before they ever got together, and Jordi knew whenever they started their relationship that Rye would always be a factor. He is however afraid of Rye, so he doesn't deal with him too much.
Malakai - Migidoll Ryu1. What's up with the patch?Mali was stabbed in the eye when he was a teenager. He generally doesn't like people to see it, so he keeps it covered. It also can't handle a lot of light, so the patch helps.
2. Did you make the patch yourself?Yes, I did. All it is, is a piece of gauze, some string, and glue. Yup, that simple.
3. How did you do his piercings?Just some simple wire cut to size, and tacky glue. It took a lot of patience to make sure it was in scale.
Omega - MNF Woosoo (modded)1. How did you do his scars?I didn't do his scars, =
Nezumi-chuu did. You can refer to her FAQ to see how she does those:
[link]2. How did he get his scars?Very long story short, he was experimented on. He also will be getting extensive scarring done on his body.
Adult Jordan - CP Shiwoo[none yet]
Dolls I used to ownMicro - Puki Piki1. Why did you sell her?I'd been considering selling her for awhile, and finally I decided I'd rather use the money for my move.
2. What made you change her look and draw stitches on her?I was considering selling her, which I really didn't want to do because she was so cute. I wasn't going to have her have stitches at first, but I needed to make her really different and something I would really like so I would want to keep her around.
3. Where did you get her eyes?I actually made them. They're normal 8mm acrylic eyes, but I added Aileen's Tacky Glue to the top of them to make them milky.
4. How were her stitches done?A basic black watercolor pencil and then sealed with MSC. They are not carved in (although that would look cool).
Young Jordan - MNF Elf Shiwoo Vampire (modded)Why did you sell him?I absolutely adore him, but I never did anything with him unless he was with Ka. *
onnawufei talked about selling Ka's head and I just decided it was time to let him go. I plan on getting him back as a Delf Shiwoo next year though.
Does he have freckles?Yeah I do get this question, and yes he does. They're very subtle so sometimes they don't show up in photos.
1. Why is he the same mold as Ka?Because..he is. Simple as that. *
onnawufei was talking about getting a MNF Elf Shiwoo head for Ka before I ordered Jordan, and since I wasn't going to use the opened eyed head I gave it to her as a present. We didn't expect the two to end up together at first, but that's how it worked out.

4. Where do you RP?We used to RP on our forum here
[link] , but now we do all of it over AIM messenger.
6. Can I join?Probably not. We don't let many people join, and the ones we do let join are personal friends of ours. Sorry.
5. How can you afford all these dolls?I work, and I save. It's pretty simple really. Most of them were partial gifts, meaning my parents helped me pay for them. I don't beg for money so I can afford one, I work my ass off so I can get what I want.
