Quote of the Journal:

"Don't worry I'm a cool teacher. We can totally have class on the lawn... If the dragons aren't loose."

If you want more updates from me you can add me on Livejournal

If you have any simple questions, feel free to ask and I will add them. Same goes for any of my characters.

FIRST OFF if you have an in depth question or need a tutorial or something, go check out Den of Angels. www.denofangels.com/forums/ It's got tons of info, and it's where I dug up a lot of what I know.

Image Usage FAQ
1. Can I repost your art somewhere else?
No. These characters are very personal to me and are the way they are because that is how I made them. I do not want to find them posted as representations of some emo goth kid or God knows what else.

2. Can I use your art for avatars/LJ layouts/etc?
Short answer: No
Long answer: I don't want people using my art to represent their RP characters because they are my characters. I don't want people altering the image so my character has different hair/eye colors because these are the colors I picked for them.

3. Can I use your photos for my stories? I.e. either as reference for my own characters or stories based off the photo?
No. Again, my dolls are my characters and I do not want them represented as anything but my characters.

4. Can I use your photos for drawing references?
Of course! I'd love to see it when you're done too. I love any kind of art done with my characters.

5. Can I draw you fanart?
Of course you can! I adore art of my dolls! Fanart makes me really happy because I can't draw :XD:

These things. Do not say them.
1. There are no way those are boys.
This one gets old very fast. If I say they are boys then they are boys. Do not try to tell me the gender of the doll I have in my posession. They are anatomically correct and I assure you that if I say a doll is a boy then he has a little resin penis between his shapely feminine legs.

2. Your doll looks like [insert OC, famous person, random character].
Again, this one gets old. First off, how would you like it if someone came into your gallery and said your OC that you put a lot of work into looked like theirs? You'd most likely be a little annoyed. Think of that before you comment.

3. Doll photography isn't art.
That is one of the most ridiculous statements I've ever heard/read. There is no specific form of photography that isn't art. Doll photography is art just as much as photographs of bowls of fruit or naked ladies on bicycles is art.

Technical FAQ
1. What kind of camera do you use?
I currently use a Canon Rebel XSi. Before that I was using a Kodak Easyshare Z740, and even before that I was using a Kodak Easyshare Z7590.

2. What other things do you use for photos?
If I even attempt photos indoors, I generally just try and find a well lit lamp. Otherwise I just use natural lighting as much as possible. I also use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop CS2.

Doll FAQ
1. What kind of dolls are those?
They're balljoint dolls or bjds for the many of us who are too lazy to type all that out all the time. They originated in Japan but a lot of the currently popular ones come from Korea and China.

2. Did you make them?
Nope, I would totally fail if I even tried.

3. Why would you spend so much on a doll?
Because they make me happy. Why would you spend so much on a computer or a car? Because they make you happy. To each their own, right?

4. Why did you sell [insert doll name here]?
Because I no longer enjoyed having them around. The reasons beyond that vary but that's the long and short of every doll sale I've ever made. Please don't ask me why I sold my dolls. They're mine to do whatever I want with.

5. Are those girls?
Only Panda is a girl. Yes the rest of them look like girls, but they're boys... yes they have a penis. No you can't see it.

6. Where did you get them?
These are just some of the websites. If you want to know where I got a certain doll, please see my shoutboard

Blue Fairy - www.bluefairyint.com
Bambicrony - www.bambicrony.net
Custom House - www.ainai.com
Junky Spot - junkyspot.com
Iplehouse - www.iplehouse.net
Volks - www.volksusa.com
Luts - www.eluts.com/
Migidoll - www.migidoll.com/
FairyLand - dollfairyland.com/

7. Why are they so expensive?
Because they are. Honestly, does it matter why they're so expensive? If you don't want to pay for one don't buy one, or make one yourself. People do it. If you really want one and you have a source of income you'll be willing to sacrifice your wants (going to movies, going out to eat, buying new earrings, etc.) in order to get it. If you're not willing to sacrifice then you don't really want it bad enough, simple as that.

8. Did you do paint them yourself?
Nope. Li Xue on Den of Angels did Malakai's and KittyMaru on DoA did Jordi's new faceup, timchener on DoA did his original faceup. Omega's scars and faceup were done by Nezumi-chuu, Jordan's was done by ever-dream, Oz's was done by me, and Panda's was done by raila/Lei-Xing

9. Where do you buy your clothes for them?
I make a lot of their clothes, but I also get them from Den of Angels, ebay, etsy, etc. I also get some from various other BJD clothing websites.

10. Are the fangs part of the face ups or the molds?
There are a lot of molds that come with fangs, and I have seen some people modify or paint their doll to have some.

11. You can open their eyes?
Yes! All it takes is a dremmel (or exacto knife) and a lot of patience. I opened Omega's eye myself, as well as worked on his other mods with an exacto knife. An eye beveler is also your best friend.

13. How tall are they?
The height varies. Jordi, Jordan, and Malakai are 60cm (roughly), Omega is 45cm, Oz is 9cm, and Panda is 25cm.

14. Do eyelashes come on the dolls or do you get them seperately?
It varies by company, but some companies give eyelashes with the default faceup. Luts does, and Fairyland does as well. Really if you want specifics you'll have to ask the individual company. Most have Q&A boards where you can do that.

15. How long does a faceup last?
That depends on how good it is. It all depends on how much you play with the doll, how you play with the doll, how well the faceup is done initially and what was used to seal it. Malakai has the same faceup, so does Omega.

17. How fragile are the dolls?
Well they aren't made of glass but they aren't made of iron either. They aren't extremely breakable, if one accidentally falls there's a good bet you'll be okay. But that's not always the case. Jordi fell off a table and his ear chipped as well as a chunk off the back of his neck. Fingers also can break easily since they're thinner. So be careful with the doll, don't treat it like some $10 baby doll, but you don't have to treat it like porcelin either.

18. What is the difference between normal skin and white skin?
Normal skin is more of a peachy or pinky tone (depending on the company) and white skin is... well... white. Jordi is normal skin, Malakai is white skin. Personally I love both. White skin does have it's difficulties when it comes to photographing them, but it's not impossible.

19. How do you keep the wigs on and eyes in?
If the wig is a fiber wig (the kind that looks like actual hair) odds are it's got an elastic wig cap and that is how it's staying on. Sometimes if the wig is a little too big you can take a rubber bracelet (like the yellow Livestrong ones) and put it on the doll's head so it doesn't slip around. If the wig is a fur wig it's held on by little bits of sticky velcro. I stick the velcro directly to the doll's headcap.
Eyes are kept in with sticky goo. Some people use poster tack, some people use kneadable art erasers, some people use sculpy, basically if it's sticky you can use it. Be warned though! Sculpy can screw up certain eyes.

20. How do you pose your dolls?
A lot of hard work. Seriously, that's it. Um, as far as making your doll pose/stand better, I suggest sueding and wiring. Don't worry, I'll give a brief rundown of what that is.
Sueding means putting something (usually suede) into the joints so that they don't slip against each other and poses hold better. Hot glue sueding is my weapon of choice since it's really simple. Look on the forum Den of Angels for a tutorial, that's where I found mine.
Wiring means putting bits of wire in the doll's joints so that it helps hold poses better. There are several different types of wire you can use but what onnawufei uses is aluminum soldering wire. You can buy a little roll it of cheap at Home Depot or Lowes.

21. Do you know where I can get a cheap doll?
No. Rather than go on a long tirade the answer is just no. This is not a cheap hobby, if you're jumping into it looking for the cheapest doll you can find only because it's cheap this is not the hobby for you. My advice to you is do not settle for a doll because it is cheap. If you do this I can almost promise you you'll sell it later. If a cheap doll really appeals to you then don't feel bad getting it, there's no reason to. But don't get a doll only because it's cheap. It's better to save for what you want.

Character FAQ

Jordi - CP Juri06 boy
1. Why does he look like a girl?
Because he likes it. Simple as that. He's the gayest man you will ever meet, and he likes girly things.

Malakai - Migidoll Ryu
1. What's up with the patch?
Mali was stabbed in the eye when he was a teenager. He generally doesn't like people to see it, so he keeps it covered. It also can't handle a lot of light, so the patch helps.

2. Did you make the patch yourself?
Yes, I did. All it is, is a piece of gauze, some string, and glue. Yup, that simple.

3. How did you do his piercings?
Just some simple wire cut to size, and tacky glue. It took a lot of patience to make sure it was in scale.

Omega - MNF Woosoo (modded)
1. How did you do his scars?
I didn't do his scars, Nezumi-chuu did. You can refer to her FAQ to see how she does those: nezumi-chuu.deviantart.com/jou….

2. How did he get his scars?
He was kidnapped when he was three years old, and eventually went to work for the people who kidnapped him. Later on that lead to him being experimented on.

3. Why doesn't he have any eyebrows?
He doesn't have any body hair period, aside from his hair. It's all because of the experiments as well.

Adult Jordan - CP Shiwoo
[none yet]

Oz - Dollti Dong-E
1. Why doesn't he talk?
He doesn't feel talking is necessary unless it's something important, or if he gets mad enough.

Panda - LTF Bisou
